Ness is known as the first of the chosen children, but he's much more than just that! In his hometown of Onett, he's famous for being quite a rebel, often getting into trouble... but always gets away with it with the help of his best friend, Porky. When he isn't causing trouble, Ness is known as a rather quiet and pleasant teen, always going out of his way to not bother the people around him. Perhaps he does so too well, as he is often hard to spot in crowds.
Although Ness is usually a good kid, when he isn't indulging in shenanigans, he can sometimes be overlooked. He is helpful, but sometimes to a fault, and he can be courageous, but a bit stubborn and bull-headed at times. The people of Onett all know that Ness isn't quite like the other girls his age, but few besides Porky and Tracy truly know what that means for him. Many still refer to him as Nessa, and call him "her," but Ness has become resilient and tries not to let it bother him.
Ness is well known as an optimist, and he often goes out of his way to make people see the good in everything around them, even when he occasionally struggles to see the good himself.
Ness's immigrant grandparents made a deep and lasting impression on him, having survived much hardship, and he holds onto his Jewish heritage as the only visibly Jewish teen in Onett.
