Long ago, cats lived within nature, their magic woven with the earth's.

The colonies, though they had their disagreements, got along well.

The cats used to be huge, but they became small as time went on, though their magic stayed just as strong.

However, one day, the colonies were set upon by Shades, shadow beings of multiple shapes.

No cat knows where the Shades came from, or why they came when they did. All they know is that magic can fight them back for a time, and any cat caught by a Shade is dead.
